"Remember: Work hard. Do good. Be proud. Have fun! And the rule of law always."

What I try to tell myself every day. Adding this line to the bottom of all my e-mails helps a lot.

Helping Indiana Youth

I am passionate about juvenile justice, where I have seen the law help change the trajectory of entire lives for the best. I help lead an initiative aimed at reducing the number of kids in juvenile detention, and I welcome hearing from people with ideas about how our communities could collaborate to make that happen.

Serving Indiana Communities

My Indiana roots run deep, and I enjoy spending time in our communities. Occasionally, I write about the places where I’m invited and the organizations and people who make our state great.

Defending those who have served

After 28 years in the military, including four years of active duty and tours in Iraq and at Guantanamo Bay, I retired honorably from the U.S. Army. Now, I think a lot about how to help members of the military and their families.
